Meet Bird (and the Why Behind It All)
Hi, I’m Kalyn, but most folks know me as Bird. Bird’s Nest Yoga was born from a lifetime of working with kids, a deep love for movement, and a total rebirth after burnout. I’ve spent over a decade in early childhood education, special education, and behavior therapy (ABA), backed by a BA in psychology. I adored the kiddos I worked with, but the systems? Not so much.

Like many educators, the pandemic pushed me to pause. I stepped away from the classroom and into my yoga teacher training, hoping to find some healing. What I found was more than that: it was clarity. I realized I could combine my two greatest passions: supporting neurodivergent kids and offering gentle, joyful movement that doesn’t require anyone to mask, hustle, or perform.

Bird’s Nest Yoga started with children, but it quickly grew into something so much more. Now, I hold space for everyone; from toddlers to elders, from disabled folks with mobility challenges to queer, neurodivergent adults just trying to breathe a little deeper. My classes are built with care, creativity, and accessibility at their core. I offer trauma-informed, body-affirming yoga for real people with real lives, not just the flexible or the "fancy."

You’ll find me teaching slow flows on patios, movement games in classrooms, chair yoga at senior centers, and pop-ups at community events. I also believe yoga should be available to all tax brackets, so I regularly offer sliding scale and pay-what-you-can community classes.

Bird’s Nest Yoga isn’t about fixing or forcing. It’s about honoring every body and brain exactly as they are. It’s movement that meets you where you’re at - playful, regulated, inclusive, and kind. Whether it’s a wiggly kiddo, a burnt-out grown-up, or a whole backyard full of beautiful humans, my nest is open to you.
Bird’s Nest Yoga offers unique and grounded yoga experiences, welcoming every body to move, breathe, and belong without pressure or performance.

Our classes are designed for anyone who’s ever felt intimidated, out of place, or disconnected in traditional yoga spaces. There’s no expectation to achieve difficult poses, no ritual-heavy elements, no forced interaction, and no demand for perfection.

We honor yoga’s traditions with deep respect, aiming to share its tools thoughtfully and without appropriation or pretense.

As a mobile yoga studio, we bring the mats and the good energy straight to you — classrooms, festivals, corporate retreats, and beyond. Wherever we meet, we create a space that supports you exactly as you are.
